A sense of place and community; the ineffable ties that bind each of us to the place we call home.
It is a concept which is central to our namesake James Michener’s writing and one which perhaps inspired his original vision of a regional art museum devoted to the art of Bucks County. What better way to celebrate all that unites us as a region than the shared appreciation of the artists and artwork that was created here in our backyard?
Now, 30 years later, our galleries and classrooms continue to connect over 135,000 visitors annually to the artistic legacy and history of our region. Engaging exhibitions inform the very ways in which we envision our community and the surrounding landscape. Our classrooms are a nexus for superlative—yet accessible—arts education, bringing together over 20,000 children annually to participate in classes, school tours, summer camps, and special programs. Thoughtful lectures, programs for seniors, and vibrant music series keep the galleries alive with energy and the renewed sense of wonder that continues to flourish through a lifetime of learning.
This simply would not be possible without the generosity of those who recognize the profound value that a thriving arts institution brings to our community. Admission and program fees cover only a small percentage of the full costs of presenting these experiences to the public. It is through the support received through our Annual Fund—a critical source of unrestricted funding—that we are able to uphold James Michener’s original vision, and keep the doors of this cherished community touchstone open and accessible for all.
