Students entering grades 5 through 9 in fall 2018 are invited to register for this class.
Students will create drawings, paintings, collages, and even three-dimensional artwork using photographs and photography as inspiration. Students will work in color, in black and white, using photos alone or combining photos with a variety of other art materials. This class is a wonderful opportunity for students to really make new discoveries with photographs. Please bring a cell phone with camera capabilities to class, if you have one.
The Michener Art Museum offers the only art classes in Bucks County where learners of all ages experience Museum exhibitions as an ongoing part of their arts education. Discussions and experiences in the galleries and sculpture garden inspire students to create original works of art in response to what they see. Individualized attention, small classes, and master teachers are hallmarks of exceptional programs that combine learning new skills with opportunities for creative expression and the development of a personal style. Students work in an environment rooted in inspired and supportive instruction, meaningful gallery experiences, personal observation, and imagination. Student work is exhibited in the Education Gallery throughout the year. All art classes at the Michener keep art at the heart of education.
Students provide their own peanut free lunch for full day and snacks for half-day programs. Families and friends are welcome to come 15 minutes before the end of class every Friday to enjoy an exhibition of student work in the Education Gallery and classrooms.
Thank you for your interest in Michener Art Museum programs, events, music, art classes, and summer camps for all ages!
