“My painting is as personal as a journal entry. Most of my paintings are intimate, emotional, personal experiences. The way I have been working is to let myself paint in the same way that I would write a love letter to someone.”
Daniel Anthonisen is the next chapter in the Bucks County landscape tradition. Like many of the region’s painters, nature is his studio. His home in Pt. Pleasant provides easy access to the Tohickon Creek and the Delaware River, subjects that figure prominently in his paintings. He has created his own easel and waterproof storage to work in the middle of the river, which allows him to work on a number of paintings in one sitting. Whether creating an oil painting, a pencil sketch, or a pen and ink drawing, he works en plein air, skillfully capturing the energy of his surroundings.
