Instructor: Jody Holbert
This three-hour class provides the perfect opportunity for adult artists with a basic understanding of drawing and color mixing to work in a supportive and creative atmosphere on works of their choosing. Individualized, informative instruction will help students develop new skills, gain insights into their creative accomplishments, receive meaningful guidance and feedback, become comfortable with the creative process, and grow at every level. Students also work closely alongside fellow artists to further their inspiration and excitement about the creative process. Students may work in watercolor, oil and chalk pastel, pencil, ink, charcoal, and acrylics; due to inadequate ventilation, we cannot invite students who work in oil. Exhibition Focus: Students in this class will have access to all Museum exhibitions to glean inspiration and further their understanding of various arts forms and processes.
Individualized attention, small classes, frequent gallery tours, and master teachers are hallmarks of the Michener Art Museum’s exceptional arts programs. Through exposure to a variety of art forms and art materials, all courses encourage the development of new skills and build confidence in creative expression. The Michener’s permanent collections balanced with changing exhibitions provide ongoing opportunities for looking at and learning about a variety of art forms in new ways. Student work is exhibited in the Education Gallery throughout the year.
Winter 2018 sessions begin the week of January 14 and run through the week ending March 10.
