Unplugged Sundays @ the Michener
All About Birds with Kim Kurki
1:00 - 3:00 pm
Advanced registration is required.
Illustrator Kim Kurki is inspired by nature, discovery, a sense of wonder, and imagination. In this fun family workshop, work with Kim and Michener staff in the art classrooms while drawing from nature. Think turtles, mushrooms, fairy gardens, bunnies, flowers, salamanders, seashells, and more!
Kim Kurki has created fine-art illustrations focusing on the natural world for more than 30 years, including work for several publications produced by Yankee Publishing, such as The Old Farmer’s Almanac. For over 8 years, she wrote and illustrated for National Wildlife Federation's Your Big Backyard magazine creating a monthly column featuring birds, animals and plants that children can find in their own backyards. Her first book, National Wildlife Federation's World of Birds: A Beginner's Guide, has evolved from that collection of work. Kim is the winner of the Gold in Non-Fiction – Animal/Pets Category in the 2014 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to be inspired by an artist and naturalist while learning new drawing skills!
