Design and create original stained glass works of art in this dynamic Michener program. Learn to create patterns for stained glass projects. Work with colored and textured glass to complete your design. Use glasscutters and grinders to shape and smooth individual glass pieces. Solder colored glass pieces together to create unique window and wall hangings. Students who have taken stained glass classes with us in previous seasons will be inspired by new challenges in this class. Please note: the stained glass artworks students create in this program are not suitable for architectural installation. Students are required to wear long pants and close toes shoes to this class; participants may want to bring a snack and a bottle of water.

Individualized attention, small classes, frequent gallery tours, and master teachers are hallmarks of the Michener Art Museum’s exceptional arts programs. Through exposure to a variety of art forms and art materials, all courses encourage the development of new skills and build confidence in creative expression. The Michener’s permanent collections balanced with changing exhibitions provide ongoing opportunities for looking at and learning about a variety of art forms in new ways. Student work is exhibited in the Education Gallery throughout the year.

Faculty member Andrea Thompson is an Honors graduate from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education. She has been the Arts Education Coordinator at the Michener since 2015. One parent noted, “Andrea has built confidence in my children, and made the class enjoyable and exciting. We appreciate her dedication and devotion to them and to the whole program. We feel truly blessed to have her as a teacher.”

Faculty Member Jody Holbert received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education from Penn State University and has extensive graduate level experience at the University of the Arts, Kutztown University, St. Joseph’s University, and Gratz College. She has taught drawing, painting, printmaking, computer arts, textile design, ceramics, and glass throughout Bucks and Montgomery Counties. Jody brings her expertise, passion and vision to the Michener Art Museum’s adult art classes. One student noted, “This is the best art class I have ever had. There is the perfect balance of content, formal instruction, and time to work. Instructor feedback is excellent.”
