Master the art of working with acrylics, watercolors, oil pastels, and pencil on canvas. Combine these traditional materials with photography, paper pulp, sand, and fabric. Build new skills and make new discoveries in painting. Shading, perspective, color, texture, composition, and realism will be the focus.

Students entering grades 4 through 9 in fall 2019 are invited to register for this class.

Students provide their own peanut free lunch and snacks for full day programs.

Individualized attention, inspired and supportive instruction, small classes, meaningful gallery tours, and award-winning teachers are hallmarks of our exceptional arts programs. Through exposure to a variety of art forms and materials, all courses encourage the development of new skills and build confidence in creative expression. In addition, our summer camps provide opportunities for lively social interaction and outdoor activities. Student work is exhibited in the Education Gallery throughout the summer.

Faculty member Megan Miller has a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education from Kutztown University, as well as a Masters of Education from Concordia University. She has worked with the Michener since 2006, first as a college intern, then as a teaching assistant, and currently as an adjunct staff member. She teaches a variety of classes during the summer including Fabulous Fives, All About Art, and Drawing and Painting. She is also an art teacher in the Pennsbury School District, teaching at the middle school level. Her large scale paintings are inspired by nature; she works primarily in oils and watercolors. “Megan always encourages my son, and listens to his concerns, excitement and questions. She is playful and funny but also patient and understanding. She’s the reason he’s loved the Michener Art Camps, and we scour the brochure looking for her name when we sign up.”
