We Shall Not Be Moved! – Songs from the Civil Rights Movement
Featuring Keith Spencer
February 3, 1-3 pm
Free family program; pre-registration required

From the mournful call of the Negro spiritual to the cry of protest and purpose that signifies the African-American experience from the mid-1950s to late 1960s, We Shall Not Be Moved is an hour-long concert presentation focusing on the music that captured the essence of the Civil Rights Movement. Don’t miss this opportunity to be inspired by dynamic, versatile baritone vocalist and concert entertainer, Keith Spencer, in a family-friendly commemoration of Black History Month.

Keith has pursued his love of the stage and concert performance in many Philadelphia-local professional venues including Bristol Riverside Theatre, Act II Playhouse, The Prince Music Theatre, Hedgerow Theatre, and The Broadway Theatre of Pitman. National tour highlights include the Broadway Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Music of the Night. He has also performed in Ragtime, Showboat, Guys and Dolls, and The Little Shop of Horrors to critically rave reviews.

Keith was a semi-finalist in the esteemed American Traditions Competition hosted in Savannah, Georgia, and was a featured soloist with Walt Disney World’s premier a cappella ensemble, Voices of Liberty, in Orlando, Florida. For several seasons now, Keith has enjoyed performing one-man shows in Bristol Riverside Theatre’s Summer Music Fest Concert Series. He is a highly-acclaimed cabaret concert artist and also appears regularly in various ensembles with “Philly’s Hottest Big Band,” the Jump City Jazz Orchestra.

Participants are invited to explore the Museum galleries, engaging in theme-related gallery scavenger hunts, drawing activities, and Museum fun following this performance.

Unplugged Sundays @ the Michener are presented by the Leff Family Foundation.
