This workshop will teach you how to observe, sketch and complete a drawing with an emphasis on each animal’s unique qualities.

The workshop will include a brief drawing demonstration and talk about observing and sketching animals from life or from photographs. Families will learn to sketch the basic forms then finish your drawing with colored oil pastels on charcoal paper by adding colors, textures and patterns of animals. You may use your imagination to create a rich finished drawing that enhances the animal’s qualities better than that of a photograph.

Participants should bring three or more photographs of each animal they would like to draw. It is recommended to choose several varieties of animals as well as different views for a good selection of reference material.
