Join David Leopold as he takes us on a journey in the Putnam Pavilion around the region to see murals painted by Bucks County artists, including Daniel Garber, Charles Ward, Maxo Vanka, Lloyd Ney, Robert Beck, Charles Child, John Foster, Charles Hargens, Arthur Meltzer, and William A. Smith. Find out the small details about how these big pictures were created.

David Leopold is an author and curator who has organized exhibitions for institutions around the country including the Library of Congress, the Field Museum in Chicago, the James A. Michener Art Museum, and the New York Public Library. Internationally, he has organized shows for museums including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Filmmuseum in Berlin. He has been the archivist of Al Hirschfeld’s work for 25 years and has written extensively about twentieth century performance caricature.

His latest book is THE HIRSCHFELD CENTURY: A PORTRAIT OF AN ARTIST AND HIS AGE ( Alfred A. Knopf, 2015), to coincide with the opening of an exhibition of the same name at the New York Historical Society. His other books include: THE ART OF TONY AUTH (Camino Book, 2012), DRAWN TO LIFE (Historic Collection of New Orleans, 2011); DAVID LEVINE’S AMERICAN PRESIDENTS (Fantagraphics, 2008), IRVING BERLIN’S SHOW BUSINESS (Harry Abrams, 2005).
