Instructor: Jenn Hallgren
Explore the exciting realm of art journaling, bullet journaling, hand-lettering, and modern calligraphy. Use a variety of papers, pens, graphic markers, and pen and ink to create beautiful script and printed letters, explore fun ways to organize your thoughts, and use different mixed media techniques to create layered works of art. This one-day workshop is perfect for students of all ability levels, and no experience is required.
Informal, informative, and inspiring hands-on art classes with changing themes provide a unique focus for adult learners of all ages and abilities to engage in Museum-based art education and creative exploration. Permanent collections balanced with special exhibitions provide ongoing opportunities for looking at and learning about a variety of art forms. Opportunities for individualized instruction, observation, practice, experimentation, and the development of a personal style are at the core of all of our adult art classes. Instructional projects vary throughout the year; adults who participated in our art classes continue to bring new insights and find new challenges in this series of programs.
Faculty Member Jenn Hallgren received her BFA from Wright State University in 2000, where she majored in Painting and minored in Art History. Since graduating, Jenn has enjoyed numerous teaching opportunities from teaching K-12 students at K12 Gallery for Young People, teaching graphic design courses to college students at Norwalk Community College, teaching senior citizens to paint at the Philadelphia Senior Art Camp, and teaching a wide range of fun-loving folks to paint at Painting with a Twist. She began teaching Saturday art classes at the Michener in 2019 and continues her full-time art career in the form of drawing, painting, and mixed media.
