Students age 13 and older are invited to work with Michener curatorial and education staff to create our first-ever fully student-curated exhibition. This is a unique opportunity for any student who has an interest in art, art history, or museums.
The exhibition will feature artist’s sketchbooks and selected drawings from our permanent collection. Students will go behind the scenes to select the work for the exhibition, engage in archival and library research while writing object labels for the artworks, and collaborate with peers and Museum staff on the exhibition design.
Students will also have the opportunity to work with marketing to develop program literature and tools for visitor engagement.
The exhibition will run in the Bette and Nelson Pfundt Gallery from August 18 through November 11, 2018. The opening reception for the exhibition will be on September 16, from 2-4 pm.
Students may be asked to complete some work outside of class to meet Museum deadlines.
At the end of the class, students will receive a letter of recommendation, which will include documentation of service hours for National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Key Club, or college applications.
Class size is limited; contact firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
