Instructor: Andrea Thompson
Children join an adult caregiver in this popular intergenerational program with Museum-inspired lessons and art activities that inspire verbal development, visual awareness, dynamic conversation, imagination, creativity, confidence, and self-expression. Both adult caregivers and children have the opportunity to create works of art in this program. Student artwork is exhibited in the Art in Bloom Education Gallery exhibition in April.
Projects are not repeated throughout the year. Most students attend for consecutive seasons, and many attend for several years.
Faculty member Andrea Thompson is an Honors graduate from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education and is working toward her Master’s Degree in Arts Education from Penn State University. She has been the Arts Education Manager at the Michener since 2018, and with the Michener since 2014. One parent noted, “Andrea has built confidence in my children, and made their art class enjoyable and exciting. We appreciate her dedication and devotion to them and to the whole program. We feel truly blessed to have her as a teacher.”
