Adult students of all abilities will have the perfect opportunity to refresh and build on skills and become more comfortable with completing a pastel drawing. Students will use chalk and oil pastels and pastel pencils, and build on their knowledge of surface, texture, color mixing, and layering. This workshop will encourage adult artists of all abilities to work out of the box, learn new skills, and have an enjoyable experience making art at the Michener. Pastel Drawing I is not a requirement for this workshop.
Informal, informative, and inspiring hands-on art classes with changing themes provide a unique focus for adult learners of all ages and abilities to engage in Museum-based art education and creative exploration. Permanent collections balanced with special exhibitions provide ongoing opportunities for looking at and learning about a variety of art forms. Opportunities for individualized instruction, observation, practice, experimentation, and the development of a personal style are at the core of all of our adult art classes. Instructional projects vary throughout the year; adults who participated in our art classes continue to bring new insights and find new challenges in this series of programs.
Faculty Member Jody Holbert received a BS in Art Education from Penn State University and has extensive graduate level experience at the University of the Arts, Kutztown University, St. Joseph’s University, and Gratz College. There is the perfect balance of content, formal instruction, and time to work. Instructor feedback is excellent.”
