Learn to create mosaics by arranging colored pieces of stone, tile, mirror, and glass on two and three-dimensional surfaces. This class is perfect for the student who will enjoy using color, intricate pattern, original designs, and found objects while learning an ancient art form. Students may bring in a 3D object such as a terra cotta flower pot or a jar upon which they will apply mosaic decoration; details will be provided in the final class confirmation.
Students provide their own peanut free lunch for full day and snacks for half-day programs. Families and friends are welcome to come 15 minutes before the end of class on Friday to enjoy an exhibition of student work in the Education Gallery and classrooms.
Students entering grades 4 through 9 in fall 2019 are invited to register for this class.
Need a full day program? Students may combine the morning Mosaics 2D and 3D class with the afternoon Jewelry Making class, and Lunch Option 5.
Individualized attention, inspired and supportive instruction, small classes, meaningful gallery tours, and award-winning teachers are hallmarks of our exceptional arts programs. Through exposure to a variety of art forms and materials, all courses encourage the development of new skills and build confidence in creative expression. In addition, our summer camps provide opportunities for lively social interaction and outdoor activities. Student work is exhibited in the Education Gallery throughout the summer.
