Instructor: Andrea Thompson and guests

Participants will use silk pigment dyes to design an original Japanese habotai silk scarf. Students will explore brush techniques, salt resist, and shibori as methods for dying their scarves. Our inspiration for this popular silk scarf-painting event comes from teacher demonstrations, nature, the Michener’s Pennsylvania Impressionist collection, and modern and contemporary works in our galleries.

Women of all ages are welcome to attend these unique workshops, appropriate for beginners and experienced artists alike. Self-expression, experimentation, and all-out fun are the focus. Refreshments will be served. Additional Ladies Night Out programs will be offered in the spring.

Sponsored by Penn Management Group at UBS Financial Services Inc. and Virginia W. Sigety, cabi Fashion Stylist.

Faculty member Andrea Thompson is an Honors graduate from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia. We feel truly blessed to have her as a teacher.”
