Instructor: Stacie Speer Scott, Ruth Anderson, and guests
Join us for a special celebration of women with Bucks County painter, sculptor, and printmaker Stacie Speer Scott. Garner inspiration from the Rae Sloan Bredin: Harmony of Power exhibition. Create a realistic or abstract mixed media piece inspired by demonstrations, a wide assortment of art materials, and Ms. Scott’s artwork. The focus on open-ended process and color exploration is appropriate for beginners as well as experienced artists. Simply bring your love of art, your sense of adventure, a spirit of creative camaraderie, and a few friends.
Women of all ages are welcome to attend these unique workshops, appropriate for beginners and experienced artists alike. Self-expression, experimentation, and all-out fun are the focus. Refreshments are served. Ladies Night Out is sponsored by Penn Management Group at UBS Financial Services Inc. and Virginia W. Sigety, Independent cabi Stylist.
Guest artist Stacie Speer Scott began her art career in the 80’s with works on paper. She soon began to deconstruct paintings and reassemble them while incorporating vintage fabric, ephemera, dress patterns, and other found materials. Scott continues to work in collage while experimenting with painting, printmaking, charcoal drawing, and layers of paint and encaustic. Scott has exhibited in galleries in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Arizona; her work is in several public and corporate collections.
Faculty member Ruth Anderson holds a Master’s Degree in Art Education from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. She has completed postgraduate work in fine arts, art education, special education, and school administration. Ruth received Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Art Educator Award in 1983. She is currently the Director of Arts Education at the Michener. One parent noted, “Ruth has a natural gift with children that grows from her heart. She is patient, respectful, creative, and inspiring. Her classrooms are successfully nurturing our next generation of artists.”
