Students entering grades 6 through 12 in fall 2018 are invited to register for this class.
Learn to create patterns and designs on fabric, which will be used in the creation of a sewing project. Students will also learn to use, adapt, or develop their own sewing patterns and create unique fashion and accessory designs. Projects in the level 2 class will be more complex than the projects in the level 1 class, offered in June; students are welcome to take both classes. Students who took our fashion classes last summer will discover new experiences and learn new skills in this class. Sewing skills are helpful but not necessary. Families and friends are invited to come 30 minutes before the end of class on Friday to enjoy an exhibition of student work and a fashion show. Students provide 3 yards of non-directional, non-stretch fabric and matching thread for their outfit. If purchasing a clothing pattern that requires specific notions, those must be purchased as well. Please bring a sewing machine to class, if you have one.
The Michener Art Museum offers the only art classes in Bucks County where learners of all ages experience Museum exhibitions as an ongoing part of their arts education. Discussions and experiences in the galleries and sculpture garden inspire students to create original works of art in response to what they see. Individualized attention, small classes, and master teachers are hallmarks of exceptional programs that combine learning new skills with opportunities for creative expression and the development of a personal style. Students work in an environment rooted in inspired and supportive instruction, meaningful gallery experiences, personal observation, and imagination. Student work is exhibited in the Education Gallery throughout the year. All art classes at the Michener keep art at the heart of education.
