Discover Art classes will help children enhance their drawing and painting abilities, develop new talents, inspire confidence and creativity, encourage the production of unique works of art, and provide opportunities to master a variety of art materials. Students explore Michener galleries weekly, and use works in the exhibitions as take-off points for their own art making; they also work from photographs, observation, and imagination. Students will use pencil, charcoal, oil and chalk pastels, acrylic paint on canvas, watercolors, and an array of printmaking and collage materials in this program. Student artwork is exhibited in the Art in Bloom Education Gallery exhibition in April. Projects do not repeat, and many students enjoy taking this class in the fall, winter, and spring for consecutive years.
