In this three-hour class, adult students of all abilities will learn how to control color mixing and use color schemes effectively in realistic and abstract paintings. Students will be introduced to color theory, explore and experiment with color, and develop an understanding of the relationships between colors in a work of art. They will build confidence and apply new knowledge while creating a finished painting using acrylic paint on canvas. Adults who participated in our art Color and Design class last year will bring new insights and find new challenges in this year’s program.
Informal, informative, and inspiring hands-on art classes with changing themes provide a unique focus for adult learners of all ages and abilities to engage in Museum-based art education and creative exploration. Permanent collections balanced with changing exhibitions provide ongoing opportunities for looking at and learning about a variety of artists, art forms, and processes. Opportunities for individualized instruction, observation, practice, experimentation, and the development of a personal style are at the core of all of our adult art classes. Instructional projects vary throughout the year; most students attend for consecutive sessions.
Faculty Member Jody Holbert received a BS in Art Education from Penn State University and has extensive graduate level experience at the University of the Arts, Kutztown University, St. Joseph’s University, and Gratz College. There is the perfect balance of content, formal instruction, and time to work. Instructor feedback is excellent.”
