 Andrea Thompson and Erin Casey

Summer artwork comes to life in this celebration of all of the wonders of a day at the beach – swimming, surfing, fishing, boating, finding seashells, watching dolphins, building sandcastles, and  enjoying amusement park rides.

Students entering grades 1 through 5 in fall 2019 are invited to register for this class.

Students provide their own peanut free lunch and snacks for full day programs.

Individualized attention, inspired and supportive instruction, small classes, meaningful gallery tours, and award-winning teachers are hallmarks of our exceptional arts programs. Through exposure to a variety of art forms and materials, all courses encourage the development of new skills and build confidence in creative expression. In addition, our summer camps provide opportunities for lively social interaction and outdoor activities. Student work is exhibited in the Education Gallery throughout the summer.

Faculty member Andrea Thompson is an Honors graduate from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education and is working toward her Master’s Degree in Arts Education from Penn State University. She has been the Arts Education Coordinator at the Michener since 2015. One parent noted, “Andrea has built confidence in my children, and made their art class enjoyable and exciting. We appreciate her dedication and devotion to them and to the whole program. We feel truly blessed to have her as a teacher.”

Faculty member Erin Casey received a BS in Art Education from Saint Joseph’s University in 2007 and a Masters of Education at Cabrini College in 2013. After graduating she taught with the Big Picture Program for Philadelphia Mural Arts, assisting in creating the largest mural in Philadelphia. She runs a Michener Arts Enrichment mosaic class at Butler Elementary, and she began teaching Saturday art classes and summer camps at the Michener in 2014. In the summer, Erin teaches a variety of classes at the Michener. “Erin teaches with expertise and compassion. She truly loves children, and always creates a caring and inspiring classroom.”
