Students entering grades 1 – 7 in fall 2018 are invited to register for this class.

Draw, paint, print, collage, and sculpt under the “Big Top” in this first-ever Michener circus camp. Let stories and images, colors and sounds, of clowns, acrobats, trapeze artists, tightrope walkers, jugglers, magicians, and trained animals inspire you. Learn about artists who have circus themes in their artwork. Students will be taken on a special highlights tour of the Museum during this full day camp.

The Michener Art Museum offers the only art classes in Bucks County where learners of all ages experience Museum exhibitions as an ongoing part of their arts education. Discussions and experiences in the galleries and sculpture garden inspire students to create original works of art in response to what they see. Individualized attention, small classes, and master teachers are hallmarks of exceptional programs that combine learning new skills with opportunities for creative expression and the development of a personal style. Students work in an environment rooted in inspired and supportive instruction, meaningful gallery experiences, personal observation, and imagination. Student work is exhibited in the Education Gallery throughout the year. All art classes at the Michener keep art at the heart of education.

Faculty member Robin Lane won the distinguished Lindback Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Ruth Hare Award for Philadelphia’s Central Region, and was honored by Art Reach for her work in their Art in Schools program. Ms. Lane’s teaching philosophy is simple – love what you do and share that enthusiasm with your students. She has been with the Michener since 2001.

Faculty member Megan Miller has a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education from Kutztown University, as well as a Masters of Education from Concordia University. She has worked with the Michener since 2006, and is also an art teacher in the Pennsbury School District, teaching at the middle school level. Her large scale paintings are inspired by nature; she works primarily in oils and watercolors. “Megan is talented, encouraging, a good listener. She is playful and funny but also patient and understanding. She’s the reason my son loves the Michener Art Camps, and we scour the brochure looking for her name when we sign up every summer.”
