Commentary
As
the figure seems to have been drawn from a plaster cast, the sketch would date
from Trego’s attendance at the Pennsylvania
Academy, 1880–1882.
Provenance
The
sketch is one of several rescued by Walter E. Baum from Trego’s studio after
his death. It passed to Baum’s son, Robert “Bert” Baum, and from him to the
current owner.
Condition
The paper is discolored and brittle. There are
folds and tears and some material is missing at the top
