Join us for a number of diverse and exciting Family Arts Programs at the Michener!

Unplugged Sundays @ the Michener is a series of free family events where wonder, delight, art, and learning fill our event pavilion, art classrooms, and Museum grounds. Programs feature performing artists who engage audiences through storytelling, music, puppetry, and more. Art making workshops feature visual artists with expertise in drawing, cartooning, illustration, and nature. Family tours focused on Michener prison history, architecture, and museum mysteries entertain and educate. Multicultural themes, classic tales, local history, and global perspectives abound, sparking connections and inspiring kids, teens, and families in the community. Scout groups are welcome to register for most Unplugged Sundays events.

International Family Days at the Michener is a series of free family events where participants learn how stories, art, and music in our region can be traced to many different countries and many different cultures, making connections that are exciting and inspiring. All ages are invited to join in this celebration of storytelling with a different international theme each season.

International Family Days are made possible through the Arts Education Fund Honoring Ruth Anderson established by an anonymous donor.

The Michener has been hosting a Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service and Art since 2011. These annual events transform Dr. King’s life and teachings into service projects and global outreach, which help empower and strengthen our community.

The Education Gallery at the Michener Art Museum opened in June of 2000 with the inaugural exhibition, Visual Delight. Since then, we have hosted hundreds of exhibitions of local student artwork, artwork created in Museum programs, and images from community outreach collaborations with organizations in Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya. From the international exchange of The Hexagon Project: Global Interdependence interactive exhibition, through the explosion of color in our elementary and middle school Art in Bloom display, to the service initiative of the Gift of Giving program, the Education Gallery at the Michener Art Museum remains a showcase of creativity, self-expression, artistic talent, and joy in our community. Formal exhibitions throughout the year balance with informal “push pin” displays of student work in celebration of a promising future for the arts in Bucks County and beyond. All Education Gallery exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public during regular Museum hours.
