Refund Policy — Important!
Cancellation Fee: There is a 25% cancellation fee for all programs and there is no refund once the program begins. To receive a refund, cancellation requests must be made at least 72 hours in advance of the first class. There are no make-up classes or pro-rating for classes missed due to student absence due to illness, travel, family emergencies, etc.
The Michener Art Museum reserves the right to cancel any under-enrolled course, restrict the registration in a course, and change instructors when necessary. If the Museum finds it necessary to cancel courses or make schedule changes, every effort will be made to notify registered students.
Some of the art materials we will use in classes may stain clothing. Although we have plenty of smocks to share, it is also helpful to dress appropriately for active, hands-on studio art experiences. It also helps to dress in layers. The air conditioning in the galleries can be cool, but the education spaces and sculpture garden can be quite warm.
Youth: All materials are provided for youth classes unless otherwise noted. See your child’s course description for details.
Adults: All materials are provided. Open Studio Adults: Basic materials are provided but can be supplemented by students.
Oil paints and other materials that emit possibly toxic vapors or fumes are prohibited from use in the classrooms. We also kindly ask that students refrain from wearing strong perfumes or colognes in the classroom.
2019-2020 Inclement Weather Cancellation Policy
The Michener Art Museum’s art classes for children, teens, and adults keeps the safety of its students and adjunct faculty at the forefront of our minds when it comes to traveling in inclement weather.
In the event of inclement weather, please call the Museum’s main phone number at 215.340.9800 after 6:30 am the day of you/your child’s program and listen for an outgoing message to hear if the Museum is closed, or classes are cancelled. If the phone seems to ring endlessly, assume the Museum is experiencing weather related complications, and will not be open.
Every effort will be made to reschedule classes missed due to inclement weather or emergency closings. Weather updates will also be posted on our website.
MAKE-UP CLASSES: Make-up classes are not offered to individuals who choose not to attend a class that was held for any reason, including travel conditions. Students may not “sit in” on any other class, even with the same instructor, to make-up for a class absence or cancellation.

ATTENDANCE: Regular attendance fosters creative growth and engages students in the museum experience fully. If you know that you cannot attend class on a given day, please leave a message at [email protected] prior to the class and the teacher will be contacted. If you learn at the last minute that you cannot attend a class, please call the front desk of the Museum at 215-340-9800. I may not be in my office to receive last minute calls, but the front desk staff will always be able to get a message to the teacher.
Calling 911: In the event of an emergency, the James A. Michener Art Museum will secure proper treatment for students of any age as designated by an EMT, a physician, or Doylestown hospital.
TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS: I give permission for photographs of myself and/or my child and his/her artwork taken during Michener Art Museum education programs to be used for video, website, Internet, publicity, films, social media, and Museum publications. I understand that my or my child’s name will never be used in conjunction with the images. I also understand that the Michener will not share these images with any other institution or organization for their use.
