The Michener Art Museum offers diverse arts programs and teen service opportunities on site and through partnerships with area and regional cultural and educational institutions, youth groups, schools, and social service agencies. These outreach and service opportunities strive to connect the Museum to a wider community.
Arts outreach & service opportunities at the Michener keep art at the heart of education.
Volunteering at the Michener is an excellent way for middle and high school students to learn about art, education, and museum life while adding valuable community service hours to National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, Key Club, and college applications.
The Department of Arts Education has initiated a variety of community arts outreach programs with learners at all age levels and in diverse communities.
For several years, enthusiastic teachers who support the arts have worked with the Michener Art Museum to develop unique art studio, art history, literature-based, or community service arts programs that enrich and inspire eager learners.
In the Art’s First Steps Program, a Michener educator will visit your preschool or kindergarten and provide stimulating art instruction based on the theme and medium of your choice.
