October 19, 2007 through February 10, 2008 Norman Rockwell (1894-1978), one of America's most popular and prolific illustrators, is most often thought of as the creator of iconic images about American rural and family life, but he also was very active during the war years. Rockwell created 71 covers for The Saturday Evening Post during the decade of 1940, chronicling the impact of social and political events throughout the World War II era; 40 of these original tear sheet covers were featured in this exhibition.
A selection of work by Bucks County's most famous illustrator, Charles Hargens (1893-1997) was also on view. Hargens made numerous covers for The Saturday Evening Post and Boy's Life and also illustrated covers of novels by Pearl S. Buck. A L S O S E E
